High-Efficiency Steam-Driven Absorption Cooling System for the University Clinical Hospital in Białystok

At the University Clinical Hospital in Białystok, NET Group delivered and implemented a highly reliable hospital cooling system based on district steam utilization.

The installation integrates two absorption chillers with a combined cooling capacity of 2.32 MW and only 8.4 kW of electricity consumption, designed to ensure continuous and stable operation under demanding medical infrastructure requirements. The absorption chillers are supplied with steam generated in the boiler as a result of burning medical waste, providing very stable access to chilled water with very low CO₂ emissions and 24% electricity consumption reduction to only 24% of the demand associated with traditional compression chillers

This approach significantly improves overall energy efficiency, lowers operational costs and enhances system resilience — a critical factor in healthcare facilities where uninterrupted cooling is essential. Waste heat recovery and the highly efficient system delivered by NET Group of Companies for cooling generation ensured a payback period of less than 2 years. Implementation of the technology supplied by NET Group resulted in electricity savings of 1,800 MWh and a CO₂ emission reduction of 1,400 Mg.

Through comprehensive technology delivery and full project execution, NET Group of Companies provided a robust, energy-optimized cooling solution tailored to the hospital’s long-term operational needs.
