Sorption Cooling Using Waste Heat at Power Plant PP9 in Saudi Arabia

At Power Plant number 9 in Central Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, NET Group of Companies delivered and commissioned an advanced sorption cooling system in EPC formula, utilizing waste heat from boiler blow-down to produce chilled water in a highly energy-efficient and environmentally friendly manner.

The installation integrates a sorption cooling unit with the CODECO® Adiabatic Cooling (CAC) system, creating a fully optimized solution that simultaneously recovers waste heat from the boiler and converts it into renewable chilled water for plant operations.

Project capacity parameters:

  • Sorption cooling capacity: 580 kW
  • CAC cooling capacity: 400 kW

This integrated approach enables 100% renewable cooling production, significantly reduces operational costs compared to conventional electrically driven systems, and demonstrates our expertise in combining waste heat recovery with advanced adsorption and adiabatic cooling technologies for industrial energy efficiency and sustainability.
