Innovative Flue Gas Heat Recovery System at the Szczecin Waste-to-Energy Plant
NET Group of Companies delivered a globally unique heat recovery system based on moisture condensation from flue gases, designed to increase energy efficiency and support the municipal district heating network.
The solution integrates advanced absorption heat pump technology to recover low-grade thermal energy from exhaust gases and upgrade it for useful heat production. As a result:
- Heat production energy consumption is reduced by 41%,
- Approximately 30% of the facility’s required thermal capacity is covered through recovered energy,
- The installation represents the largest application of this type in Europe.
This project demonstrates a breakthrough approach to maximizing energy recovery in waste-to-energy facilities, significantly improving overall plant efficiency while reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
