CODECO® Solar Village – Low-Temperature Hybrid Desalination Plant in Saudi Arabia
NET Group of Companies delivered in EPC formula an innovative Low Temperature Thermal Multi-Hybrid Desalination Technology CODECO® Plant. The system operates at significantly reduced temperature levels, enabling the use of cost-effective materials, lowering operational expenditure, and eliminating the need for chemical pretreatment.
The technology was developed through the implementation and R&D program on the ADC Unit in Solar Village. The CODECO® Plant is based on an improved staged distillate evaporation process, optimized to increase water production efficiency while reducing OPEX compared to conventional thermal desalination systems.
Project capacity parameters:
- Distillate production capacity: 186 m³/day
- Salt production: 0.75 tonne/day
- Recovery ratio: > 86%
- Top brine temperature: 46 °C
- Lower brine temperature: 12 °C
The low-temperature operation (12–46 °C) significantly reduces scaling risk and energy demand, while improving overall system durability and efficiency. Development and implementation of this project enabled the introduction of a new seawater desalination technology characterized by the lowest CAPEX and OPEX among available thermal desalination solutions, including approximately 30% lower CAPEX compared to conventional MED systems.
This installation confirms our leadership in advanced low-temperature desalination technologies designed for high efficiency, reduced costs, and sustainable operation in arid climates.
